On Earth Day, Kilroy Calls for Investments in Alternative Energy to Create Ohio Jobs, and End Tax Breaks for Big Oil Companies

Columbus, OH - On Earth Day, County Commissioner and congressional candidate for Ohio's 15th Congressional District, Mary Jo Kilroy called on Congress to make investments in alternative energy to create Ohio jobs, decrease our dependence on foreign oil, and end tax breaks for big oil companies.

"For too long Washington and its lobbyists have protected big oil companies, while Ohio's middle class families are left feeling the pain at the gas pump," said Mary Jo Kilroy. "We need to reverse the failed energy policies of the past so we can help Ohio's struggling families. In Congress, I'll partner with Governor Strickland to put Ohio's middle class families first, reduce our dependence on foreign oil and lower energy costs, while creating Ohio jobs that will grow our economy."

Mary Jo has been committed to environmental and conservation issues throughout her time in public office. She has worked hard to promote cleaner energy and energy efficiency, reduce the level of pollution in Franklin County, and increase the quality of our air and water. She is proud to have received the "Clean Fuels Champion" Award in 2004, and is proud that the county is building a new courthouse which is expected to be LEED certified as gold or silver.

Mary Jo Kilroy is running for Ohio's 15th Congressional District. The District encompasses western Franklin County and the city of Columbus and all of Madison and Union counties. Mary Jo is currently a Franklin County Commissioner.
